Nature Programs Educators

Full Position Description

The Nature Programs Educator works as an integral part of the Corvallis Environmental Center team and is responsible for daily implementation of Nature Education classes and activities. These programs include an afterschool program, Schools Out Adventure camps and Summer Camps, field trips, and custom education programs. This position will focus primarily on Corvallis School District’s PAGES afterschool program for elementary aged children during the school year (Part-time, 10-20 hours per week) and day camps in the summer (Full-time, 30+ hours per week), with the possibility of expanding into other areas depending on program needs. Work takes place in school classrooms and gardens, parks and natural areas, Avery House Nature Center, Starker Arts Garden for Education, and office settings. During summer camps and environmental education programs they will lead lessons, activities, and games focused on ecology, science, nature connection, skill building, and more. The person in this position may also participate in other education programs as a teacher or substitute when needed.

Farm to School Educator:

Full Position Description

The Farm to School Educator works as an integral part of the Corvallis Environmental Center
team and is responsible for daily implementation of Farm to School Education classes and
activities. These programs include an afterschool program, Schools Out Adventure camps and Summer Camps, field trips, and custom education programs. This position will focus primarily on direct instruction of elementary-aged children via CEC’s Farm to School program during the school year and day camps in the summer. Work takes place in school classrooms and gardens, parks and natural areas, Starker Arts Garden for Education, local farms, Avery House Nature Center, office settings, and remotely as needed, with occasional evening and weekend work required. The Farm to School Educator will work closely with CEC staff and community partners including schools (in Corvallis, Albany and surrounding communities), farmers and producers, regional and state partners, and other organizations. The person in this position may also participate in other education programs as a teacher or substitute when needed.

Bilingual (Spanish) Educators: 

Full Position Description

The Corvallis Environmental Center is seeking two bilingual Spanish speaking educators to join our education team. These educators will be focusing on both the Farm to School and after school environmental education programs for elementary aged children during the school year, and summer campsduring the summer. They will provide instruction in both English and Spanish as needed. The Farm to School program includes classroom cooking education, garden classes, and field trips. During summer camps and environmental education programs they will lead lessons, activities, and games focused on ecology, science, nature connection, skill building, and more. The person in this position may also participate in other education programs as a teacher or substitute when needed. These programs include Schools Out Adventures, NaturePlay preschool, field trips, and custom education programs.
