Position Description

 

 

NATURE OF WORK: This position is responsible for performing technical duties and assisting in data collection and project design necessary to implement program objectives of the Natural Resources Department. This position may perform tasks for one or more programs in the Natural Resources Department.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sample and data collection.
  • Carry out specific technical duties assigned by supervisor in annual work plan.
  • Assist in operation and maintenance of program equipment.
  • Assist in project implementation and project design.
  • Represent the program positively to the community.
  • Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and safe workspaces.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate and maintain small boats, motors, trucks, and field equipment.
  • Ability to perform species identification relative to program assignment.
  • Ability to survey in river data accurately.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work in difficult conditions.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Have 1-year experience as Technician Trainee or a comparable amount of experience and/or education.
  • Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license and be insurable under the Nisqually Indian Tribe’s insurance policy.
  • Must be able to work during irregular hours including weekends and holidays and respond to emergencies.
