Description

The Natural Resources Program Assistant will work with the Tribe’s Environmental & Natural Resources Department, Governmental Affairs & Special Projects Department, and members of the interdisciplinary Ancestral Forest team to support administrative tasks and duties associated with grants, purchasing, operations logistics, events, and other projects as needed.  

 

Essential Duties:

  • Perform variety of complex administrative functions for the department and overall tower. 
  • Support schedule coordination, oversee recordkeeping and expense and report processing tasks.  
  • Support managers and directors within the tower with managing report schedules and materials including grants and internal reporting needs. 
  • Research, compile, update, and maintain information related to department projects and programs, prepare correspondence, documents, and reports as needed. 
  • Provide support with procurement and contract processes including coordinating, preparing, and submitting documents relevant to various internal processes, ensuring a consistent and coordinated approach. 
  • Collaborate with departments and staff within the Governmental Affairs & Special Projects tower to maintain efficient processes, effective communication, and accurate review records. 
  • Support departmental logistics including budget and expense tracking, and procurement of goods and supplies. 
  • Maintain clear records including tracking contracts, purchases, agreements, resolutions, access equipment, and other materials. 
  • Prepare, organize and track proposals and reports.
  • Support communication efforts and projects within the tower for Tribal Member and public audiences through documentation in writing, photo, and video forms.  
  • Provide general office support. 
  • Coordinate and plan meetings, as directed.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute events for Tribal Members and the public, as directed. 
  • Provide support and presence at public events and presentations, as directed. 
  • Provide support and assistance to the ENR Director and other Directors within the Governmental Affairs & Special Projects tower, as needed.

 

Additional Duties:

  • Conduct research, undertake due diligence efforts, and write reports. 
  • Undertake special projects and assignments as directed by the ENR Director.
  • Provide documentation, records, reports and communication to the ENR Director as necessary.

Education & Experience:

Education:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree in business, natural resources, or related field is strongly preferred. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible administrative experience is required. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of working experience with federal and state grants, including budget and reporting tasks is required. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of working experience with budgets, preparing financial spreadsheets and tracking expenditures is required. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of tracking contracts, purchases, agreements, resolutions, access equipment, and other materials for maintaining clear records is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of preparing, organizing and tracking proposals and reports is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of schedule coordination, overseeing recordkeeping and expense and report processing tasks is required.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in using Microsoft Office and SharePoint technologies at an intermediate level is required.
  • Background in environment-related fields strongly preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of Tribal sovereignty and jurisdictional issues strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with or for tribal government strongly preferred. 

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background investigation. 
  • Must agree to be subject to the Tribe’s Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.

 

Work Environment:

Work generally takes place in an office environment within a controlled atmosphere building. Noise levels are typically low to moderate. Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be possible in accordance with the Tribe’s Telecommuting Policy. Weekend and evening hours will sometimes be required.
