JOB SUMMARY:  Primary duties include professional engineering design and review of aquatic restoration projects and land use proposals such as Forest Practices Applications, development proposals and stream crossing infrastructure.  Responsible for planning, coordination, monitoring, and maintenance of aquatic restoration projects (such as fish passage and stream/river restoration) within the Tribes “usual and accustomed area” (U&A).  Responsible for application and management of grants and Tribal funds used to implement projects.  Supports the protection of fish and wildlife habitat and other tribally valued resources throughout the Snohomish, Stillaguamish, and Whidbey basins from logging and related forest practices activities as part of the Timber Fish and Wildlife Program. Represents and coordinates Tulalip Tribes’ interests in the TFW/FFR (Forests and Fish) arena and the Forest Practice Application (FPA) process within the Tribes’ usual and accustomed treaty basins and focused watersheds. Takes a leadership role in developing hydraulic projects and serving as the engineer of record for innovative stream restoration and fish passage projects within the Tulalip Tribes Usual and Accustomed Areas.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant STEM field, engineering, natural resources management, environmental science, or related field.

 

MINIMUM RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • Five (5) years of professional engineering experience.
  • Five (5) years’ experience with fieldwork or lab/ flume experience in engineering, water resources, hydraulics, environmental science, or fisheries.

 

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES

  • Professional Engineer License.
  • WA State Driver’s License.
  • Must adhere to the Motor Vehicle Regulations (Personal Auto Insurance & Abstract Required)
