The University of Puget Sound is hiring an Education and Outreach Director (EOD) to join our Puget Sound Museum of Natural History!

The museum is one of the Pacific Northwest’s significant natural history collections, with over 100,000 bird, mammal, reptile, amphibian, plant, insect, and geological specimens. The museum is focused on research, education, & engaging university students with museum collections. The EOD collaborates with the museum Director, other campus colleagues, community members and students to organize and lead the education and outreach efforts of the museum, including the student docent program, teaching of museum practices, open houses, tours, Nature in the Classroom logistics, exhibit design and construction, and community events.

This position is:

• Regular
• Part-time (0.5 FTE)
• Flexible Schedule (M – F)

To be considered for this role, a candidate must have:

• College degree, preferably in the sciences. Master’s degree or related certification a plus
• Previous work with natural history collections and knowledge of museum practices
• Experience teaching or working closely with K-12 students and teachers
• Excellent writing and research abilities, including managing spreadsheets and databases
• Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record

Compensation and Benefits:

• The pay range for this position is $24.00 to $26.25 per hour. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate’s education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
• This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
• This position is not eligible for benefits; however, employees may make elective deferrals into a retirement plan.
