Salary Details: $16-18 an hour
AFM’s Lake States Region has 2 openings for a Summer Internship in Houghton and Ironwood Michigan, reporting to the District Manager. As an intern at AFM, you will be paired with a forester throughout your summer to gain a wide range of forestry and business experience as well as independent work. Activities will include inventory work using a variety of cruising techniques, timber sale layout, stream buffer delineation, harvesting inspections, regeneration surveys, GIS/GPS work, tract inspections, assisting the Marketing Team, and other duties assigned by AFM foresters. Position Requirements:
- Pursuing a Degree in Forestry or Natural Resources
- Desire to learn more about a consulting forestry career
- Prefer the candidate has completed “Fall Camp”
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; working knowledge of GIS & GPS applications is a plus.
- Must have personal skills necessary to communicate with AFM team members, managers, and contractors.
- Valid driver’s license.
