This position functions a Forest Technician responsible for assisting the District’s timber management foresters in the management of the District’s State Forest Resources in accordance with the Forest Resource Plans, Timber Management Operating Manual, and applicable laws of the Commonwealth. All activities will comply with the policies and procedures established by the Forest District Manager. This position will devote approximately 85 percent of the work time to timber management, but will give priority to other assigned activities to include Search & Rescue, fire suppression, deer fencing etc. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is a seasonal, full-time position WITHOUT benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
- Work schedule is:
- Week 1: (Mon – Fri) 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Week 2: (Mon – Thurs) 7:00 am – 4:15 pm; (Fri) OFF, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate’s degree in forest technology; or
- Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
