Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide, Department of Aeronautics, Graduate Studies, invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the aerospace field.  Experience with aviation and aerospace sustainability required. This full-time, 10-month faculty position will involve teaching primarily graduate level classes in support of the Master of Science in Aviation and Aerospace Sustainability program. Classes will be taught at various campuses in different modalities, most commonly in the asynchronous online modality. It may also include evaluating/mentoring adjunct faculty at one of our Worldwide campus locations.  As an academic appointment with faculty rank, this position includes teaching, scholarship, and university service as the principal responsibilities.

A requirement of this position is to teach an annual course load of 24 semester hours (normally 8 courses), and engage in University, College, and Department activities. The faculty member will work from a home office and will be required to attend all Department, College, and Worldwide meetings. An additional requirement is to become proficient in the distance learning modalities utilized by the University including EagleVision Classroom, EagleVision Home, online, and blended. The faculty member may teach at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels and must be willing to travel on occasion to attend meetings and teach classes. The faculty member will assist in faculty and academic issues when requested by the Department Chair and/or College Dean and will be required to promote a positive university image and ensure academic quality of the courses offered within the College. The faculty member may be required to visit classes and mentor adjunct faculty as prescribed by Worldwide policies including conducting faculty evaluations. There is flexibility on where the faculty member’s home office is located.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned doctorate degree, as well as academic and professional/scholarly experience in the aviation and aerospace sustainability industry. A strong background in research methodologies and publications, a broad insight into the interdisciplinary nature of aviation/aerospace and related activities, and a strong interest in developing collaborative research projects in the specified fields is desired. Candidates should have demonstrated experience with the implementation of aviation and aerospace sustainability strategies and initiatives. Specifically, the candidate should have expertise in the holistic and proactive nature of sustainability programs for aviation and aerospace organizations.
