The Environmental Studies Department at Dartmouth seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track assistant professorship in Interdisciplinary Ecosystem Science. Qualified candidates should have a strong foundation in biophysical ecosystem science while also addressing challenges in environmental justice, human health and well-being, and/or environmental disparities in marginalized communities. Applicants should have a research and teaching program that employs field- and lab-based methodologies. We welcome applicants specializing in any relevant subfield of ecosystem science.  We also welcome applicants working in a wide variety of ecosystem types; we particularly encourage applicants who could take advantage of Dartmouth’s expertise and resources in polar systems.

Current faculty in the Environmental Studies Department seek to produce policy- and society-relevant research that address local to global scale challenges. Teaching opportunities at the undergraduate level include courses in the broad area of environmental science and global change from introductory to advanced levels, tailored to the candidate’s research interests. A Ph.D. in ecosystem science, ecosystem ecology, environmental science, global change biology, or a closely related field is required. Applicants may be ABD but must have a Ph.D. by the appointment start date. Applicants who demonstrate a capacity to connect their work to the social sciences and policy are especially encouraged.
