Salary– $77,772.00 – $83,000.00 Annually

Some of the duties include:

  • Lead key aspects of major planning and policy initiatives, such as the Action Agenda and Implementation Strategies, by working across agency programs and with diverse partners (tribal, state, federal, local, NGO, and business). 
  • Lead the Partnership’s visioning, administration, development, and adaptive management work on Implementation Strategies; coordinate a community of practice with Strategic Initiative Leads and other partners; support integration of cross-cutting topics such as climate, equity, and human wellbeing into Implementation Strategies; and ensure that key internal agency efforts are appropriately linked to and coordinated with the Implementation Strategies program.
  • Engage with diverse partners in planning and policy initiatives to increase participation, ensure effective implementation, and advance targeted outcomes. 
  • Strengthen relationships while representing the agency in external venues by coordinating and influencing the work of partners, expanding constituencies, and creating opportunities for input on agency priorities, policies, and programs.
  • Lead internal and external project teams and advisory groups.
  • Analyze, develop, and manage agency policies and positions on internal and external issues.
  • Maintain open and respectful communication with staff and partners.
  • Oversee budget administration and performance management of assigned project teams, programs, and contractors.
  • Develop and contribute to work plans for projects and programs.

 

Qualifications

Required Experience, Skills, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, natural resources, public policy, planning, public administration, or related field.
  • Three years related professional experience; public sector experience preferred.
  • Two years of interdisciplinary program/complex project management.
  • Two years of experience in strategic planning and implementation, particularly in the natural resource or environmental sector.
  • A work history demonstrating progressive levels of skill, capability, and responsibility.
  • Substantive knowledge of the issues in which the Puget Sound Partnership is involved.
  • Commitment to advancing justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

 

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree in environmental management, natural resources, public policy, planning, public administration, or related field.

  • Five (5) or more years of related professional experience, including some relevant professional experience working at various levels of government.  Experience with treaty tribes is especially helpful.
  • Experience in a complex, public sector work environment, including science-policy decision making.
  • Experience participating in the development or implementation of an Action Agenda, salmon recovery plan, local Ecosystem Recovery Plan, or Implementation Strategy.

CONDITIONS OF THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Occasionally travel throughout the state, which may include overnight stays, as required, while performing the duties of this position. 
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing deadlines. 
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding information accessed or discussed while performing the duties of the position. 
  • Interact and work with partners and staff in a positive, friendly, and supportive manner that is centered in psychological safety and meets the needs and standards of the office and the agency.

As an exempt employee, incumbent is expected to be available to work as needed beyond normal (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) work hours, including evenings and weekends. Regular travel, including overnight stays may be required.
