This position is responsible for coordinating with professional educators and community partners to develop and conduct environmental education focused on waste reduction and sustainability to Pierce County pre-k through 12th grade students and adults. Other responsibilities include developing instructional materials, promoting educational programs and giving public presentations to all age groups. How to be Successful in the Role: You’ll need to bring it! You will be joining an established work team of educators who are passionate about what they do. Your ability to be flexible, self-motivated, a team player, and be an excellent communicator, both in writing and verbally, will aid in your long-term success. Your knowledge of teaching strategies to develop lessons and actions projects to address a wide range of audiences and your ability to listen and respond to what the customer needs will help you develop effective change in our community. The work of the Pierce County environmental education team is guided by the Pierce County Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Plan and the newly adopted Sustainability 2030 Plan. Qualifications
Recruiting Requirements:
A four-year degree in environmental science, education or related field, and two or more years of related teaching experience with some experience conducting presentations, workshops, and outdoor education in the environmental field is required. Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one, as travel is required of the position.
- Ability to successfully complete all required background investigations.
