Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in data science, computer science, statistics, engineering, economics or related field; Advanced degree preferred.
  • Education may count toward years of experience.
  • Strong background in statistical methods and software environments.
  • Strong background in computational methods and tools.
  • Strong background in data analysis methods and tools.
  • Strong background in data visualization principles and tools.
  • Demonstrated analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders at the University (central admin departments, schools, faculty, students, Ivy Plus peers)
  • Ability to independently scope, design and lead new projects such as evaluating Scope 3 emissions methodologies (for example food purchasing data, food waste data, embodied carbon in construction projects, commuting/work from home impacts, air travel emissions, and procured goods and services).

The ideal candidate will also display strengths in several or all of the following areas:

  • Statistical and empirical analysis: Quantitative methods for policy and program evaluation; survey design; statistical packages such as R, Stata, or SPSS;
  • Programming and “Big Data”: Ability to use current programming, infrastructure, and/or data ecosystems, (e.g., Python, Go, AWS, Apache Spark). Interest in large datasets and producing analyses from multiple, unstructured data sources; and/or
  • Data management: SQL and relational database design; data warehousing; process automation; business intelligence software; and/or
  • Data visualization: Tableau or other tools; advanced design of static and interactive visualizations in statistical software packages such as R/Shiny; HTML/CSS; JavaScript-based visualization packages; Illustrator.
  • Office productivity software: It is expected that successful candidates will have experience with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Technology Skills Required:   Proficiency in MS Office suite. An ability to learn Harvard systems and web software quickly is a requirement.  Proficiency in Photoshop or other design software is a major plus.
