Salary– $2,612.00 – $3,370.00 Monthly

Our Natural Resource Workers, 

Conduct fence repair and maintenance. Tasks include: 

  • Patch holes, replace staples, brace old posts, install new posts, and build rock jacks and cribs, primarily on livestock and elk fence.
  • Safely use a variety of hand tools including hammer, shovel, wire cutters, tamping bars, and saws to accomplish these tasks.
  • Use GPS or maps to find work site locations.

Perform fence removal. Tasks include: 

  • Use truck to navigate various terrains and haul materials and supplies to and from work site locations.
  • Use tools such as a wire wrap to collect old wire and other equipment, such as tractors, track loaders/ skid steers on an as needed basis to remove existing posts or fence structures if unable to remove by hand.

Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure. Tasks include:

  • Inspect existing fence for any damages and assess the need for what grade of repair will be required or if the fence structure should be removed/replaced. Also includes inspecting the equipment, materials, and supplies for the jobs, so everything functions properly and safely.
  • Maintain and utilize a variety of small and large equipment such as hand tools and power tools, All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s), trucks, tractors, and trailers.
  • Repair any tools or equipment as necessary.

Install fences. Tasks include: 

  • Install new posts, and wire.
  • Construct and build support and/or rock jacks. This also includes checking and installing electric fencing for cattle pastures as needed.

Conduct habitat management, restoration, facilities, and ground maintenance. Tasks include: 

  • Assist with other habitat maintenance and restoration projects including soil preparation, seeding, using a tractor and implements or ATV.
  • Assist with general maintenance of buildings and grounds using hand tools, power tools and equipment.
  • Assist with sign and kiosk installation, which includes digging with shovels, using cordless screw guns, hammering nails, cutting lumber, painting, sweeping, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Work Setting, including hazards:   
    1.  Work is primarily in the field and occurs in inclement weather such as wind and heat. Work also occurs in the shop for job preparation. The ability to walk, lift bend, and stoop, sometimes on uneven terrain and sometimes while carrying load sizes between five (5) and eighty (80) lbs. of tools and/or equipment is required.
  • Schedule:   
    1. Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
  • Travel Requirements: 
    1. Minimal travel.
  • Tools and Equipment: 
    1. Vehicles, farm equipment, ATV, trailers, hand tools and power tools.
  • Customer Interactions:
    1. Some interaction with the public.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduation or GED AND three (3) months of natural resource or labor-related experience.

OR 

  • One (1) year of experience as a Natural Resource Worker 1.

Must be at least 18 years of age at time of appointment.

Licenses: 

  • Valid State Driver’s License.
