Salary– $55,000 – $60,000

Primary Responsibilities:

Fund Development & Donor Relations

  • Develop and implement a strategic and well-balanced fundraising effort that addresses the developmental needs of the organization and creates a sustainable future.
  • Create annual fundraising plans and manages all events and campaigns.
  • Lead the approaches, initiatives, and communications with current and potential donors; work with the board of directors to cultivate and build relationships with donors.
  • Oversee SHADOW’s grant process by researching available grant options, maintaining strong relationships with grant providers, maintaining a grant calendar, and leading in writing grant applications.

Operations & Leadership

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure its overall successful long-term operations.
  • Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of the staff and leverage staff experience and insights.
  • Ensure that SHADOW’s operations are legally above board and work to align SHADOW’s operations with the Land Trust Alliance’s Standards & Practices.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of developments/trends in the field of non-profits: management and fund development.

Outreach & Communications

  • Serve as the organization’s primary spokesperson at community activities/events.
  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with other community organizations. Ensure representation for SHADOW at community meetings including local chamber meetings.
  • Oversee branding and communications strategy through all communications channels to raise community awareness of SHADOW’s mission and vision.
  • Lead SHADOW’s outreach efforts including developing and overseeing SHADOW’s annual outreach calendar and production of SHADOW’s digital/social media content.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-years of experience in nonprofit management and/or a development position.
  • 4-Year University degree in a relevant field.
  • Strong networking/fundraising skills; active fundraising experience in donor stewardship, grant writing/management, campaigns, and fundraising events are highly desired.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, and passionate about SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve’s mission and excited to explore creative ways to advance that mission.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and planning abilities. Ability to envision and convey an organization’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with people.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
  • Ability to engage and effectively collaborate with the Board of Directors.
  • Ability to coach, delegate and empower employees.
  • High level of resourcefulness, creativity, and solid organizational leadership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with WordPress, Constant Contact, or Salesforce is desired.

Logistics & Salary

  • Status: FTE, salary, exempt
  • Salary range: $55,000 – $60,000

  • Start date: Mid to late July
  • SHADOW’s hours of operation are Tuesday – Saturday. Some additional weekend and evening hours will be required with ample notice.
  • Valid WA State Driver’s License and reliable transportation with current insurance is required. Position involves some local travel. Reimbursement is available for work-related travel and parking expenses.
