What you will accomplish:

  • Perform wetland-related work including:
    • Wetland delineations according to USACE Manual and Regional Supplements
    • Wetland ratings and function assessments
    • Mitigation monitoring
    • Mitigation and wetland restoration planning
    • Ordinary High Water Mark (OHWM) determinations
  • Expand Hamer Environmental’s Wetland and Fisheries Division, strategize about new business development and meet with potential clients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal environmental laws and regulations;
  • Manage and oversee junior-level wetland staff;
  • Independently prepare technical reports, permit documents, and maintain excellent communication with clients, employees and subcontractors;
  • Develop and submit project, research and grant proposals to various agencies and entities, including budget and schedule development;
  • Conduct work year-round in adverse weather and rough terrain;
  • Provide presentations to groups or organizations based on project/study results;
  • Develop, maintain, and foster client relationships;
  • Collaborate with Hamer staff and teaming partners on a variety of natural resource projects.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum 3 years of full-time wetland delineation work in the PNW, including Washington State, is required.
  • B.S. degree or higher in an environmental discipline required with demonstrated experience with plant, soil and wetland identification and characterization in the PNW and at least 5 years of professional work experience strongly desired.

Preferred Skills:

The ideal candidate will have 5 years (a minimum of 3) or more of field experience delineating and characterizing wetlands in the PNW, and strong project management skills. PWS certification is preferred but not required. A willingness to obtain PWS certification within 12 months of hire is preferred if candidate does not have PWS certification. Hamer Environmental will help support obtaining a PWS.  Strong botanical skills to conduct vascular plant inventories is desired. Must be comfortable working both in remote field settings as well as an office environment and must have working knowledge of Trimble GPS units and Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of ARC GIS and fisheries biology would be ideal.
