Job Description

We are seeking a sustainability professional with carbon accounting experience. This role will be responsible for improving upon our existing carbon accounting methods and softwares, in addition to developing new GHG Protocol-compliant offerings, and helping clients to advance their carbon neutrality programs. GHG accounting, methodology development, accreditation oversight, and client management are all entailed in this role, and the chosen candidate will work directly with our CEO and software team, in order to expand sector capabilities and specific offerings, as well as supervise client processes and relationships. You will be joining RyeStrategy at the ground floor, and will play an essential role in its long-term sustainability capabilities and growth.

If your background doesn’t meet our qualifications perfectly, don’t let that stop you from applying — we are a group of self-starters and continual learners who prioritize passion, commitment, and work ethic over all else. If you’re feeling unsure, we strongly encourage you to apply and to place extra emphasis on your “why RyeStrategy”.

Qualifications:
– 3-4+ years professional experience in sustainability, with at least 2 years spent developing greenhouse gas inventories
– End-to-end completion of at least 3 GHG Protocol-compliant greenhouse gas inventories across Scopes 1, 2, and 3; preferably for organizations with sophisticated or world-wide operations from multiple industries
– Demonstrated ability to perform complex GHG Protocol-compliant Scope 3 inventory calculations across a diverse range of industries
– Experience with sustainability database softwares including EcoInvent, GaBI, and others preferred
– Experience with methodology verification processes such as those offered by the GHG Protocol, CDP, or GRI preferred
– Background with setting science-based targets (SBTs)
– Familiarity with emissions-oriented questionnaires such as the TCFD and CDP, in addition to more general ESG reporting, including GRI, SASB, and ISS
– Demonstrated ability to successfully execute client projects, from tracking and managing multiple engagements simultaneously, to acting as a key point of contact for clients and developing long-term business relations
– Understanding of and active interest in the SEC’s recent Climate-Related Disclosures proposal
– Required: bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, business, informatics, sustainability, or similar fields
– Preferred: master’s or doctoral degree in environmental sciences or sustainability

We’d love to talk if you are:
– Entrepreneurial spirited, excited about startups, and ready to play a pivotal role at the ground floor of a growing organization
– Passionate about the environment and ready to make a change in the corporate world
– Able to work independently and in teams
– An excellent communicator in written, verbal, and graphic formats
– Able to think creatively and analytically, while thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic, and oftentimes ambiguous work environment
– Able to represent yourself and the organization well through warm, professional conduct

Role Specifics:
– Full-time
– Remote, with occasional in-person meetings and activities
– Health, dental, and vision insurance
– Profit sharing
– Applicants must be currently located and able to work indefinitely in the United States
