Nature & Purpose of the Position

The Project Coordinator will support Clark CD’s technical team by providing high-quality project management and continuity to its conservation programs. This position will work directly with a highly collaborative technical team and the District Manager to identify, develop, and implement projects that address natural resource and habitat concerns. They will be responsible for aligning District and partner resources to the greatest benefit of both the landowner/operator and natural resources. The person hired for this position will report to the District Manager.

Position Description

The primary responsibility of the Project Coordinator is to oversee the Poop Smart Clark Pollution Identification and Correction (PIC) program. This program aims to reduce fecal bacteria in Clark County’s local waterways through education, outreach, and humor. The Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in this program; they will work directly with technical staff and project partners to align efforts and resources to achieve project goals and deliverables. This position is critical to the Poop Smart Clark program. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall planning and execution of the program, project and timeline management, and facilitation of both internal and external partnerships and meetings.

The Project Coordinator will be the first point of contact for technical staff regarding administrative and project management-related questions. Through the guidance of the technical staff, they will help direct project resources and facilitate collaboration between programs. The Project Coordinator will facilitate the alignment of work products among the technical team and develop required systems, protocols, or templates. They will undertake the organization of District operations as needed by the District Manager.

The successful candidate will excel in project management, be a creative and results-oriented thinker, effectively multitask, prioritize a long list of activities and competing priorities, and understand complex funding scenarios. In addition, this person must successfully communicate and understand complex plans, deadlines, and timelines in written and spoken communications. Successful candidates should be able to work well both independently and collaboratively and have a service-oriented attitude. The selected candidate may also support the District’s administrative programs as directed by the District Manager or designee.

Suggested Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with academic training in communications, business, marketing, natural resources, environmental science, administrative management, systems administration, or another relevant field. Paid job experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
  • Minimum of three years experience in project management for team-based or complex projects.
  • Experience working with a variety of partners on complex project implementation.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and/or partnership building.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated project management and team coordination experience with an ability to support, direct, and motivate individuals, teams, and partners on project coordination and execution.
  • Strong skills in multitasking and the ability to meet multiple deadlines with a high standard for quality control.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication techniques, including strong meeting facilitation skills and the ability to clearly write and explain various plans; prepare or guide informational articles and social media posts; and create internal and external summary work reports.
  • Advanced desktop computer literacy and computer software skills. Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Smartsheets, SharePoint, ArcGIS, and learn new technologies to efficiently and effectively create, track, and execute conservation projects and their oversight.

  • Proficient in writing and editing for a variety of circumstances using formal and informal communications.

  • Experience working with on-the-ground implementation of conservation practices and natural resource management.
  • Basic knowledge of a broad range of soil and water conservation principles, techniques, methods, and practices to apply and install conservation systems that involve complex and diverse land uses.
  • Intermediate to advanced Russian and/or Spanish language skills (communicating verbally and through writing).
