Duties for the Communications Specialist include:

Communications (90%)

• Support and execute social media strategy and engagement for EarthLab channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) including maintaining a flexible content calendar, drafting and scheduling posts, creating visuals such as graphics or short videos, and amplifying EarthLab partners’ social media content;
• Support all aspects of EarthLab events, both virtual and in-person when available (e.g., seminars, webinars and workshops), including planning (speaker coordination, maintaining shared calendars, etc.), promotion (building registration websites, designing flyers, etc.), execution (virtual or in-person set-up and day-of management); and post-event activities (uploading and lightly editing videos, maintaining attendee records, drafting and publishing event recaps, etc.);
• Assist with digital communications activities, including but not limited to: updating multiple websites; drafting and sending bi-weekly newsletters, and tracking engagement efforts

Other Duties (10%)

• Additional duties as needed in support of the EarthLab mission

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a communications-related discipline (e.g., communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, etc.)
• 2 years of professional experience in a communications role
• Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing a social media presence for an organization
• Demonstrated experience planning and executing in-person and virtual events that engage broad audiences
• Demonstrated experience using marketing and communications programs for website management, such as WordPress or Squarespace, design programs such as Canva or Adobe, mailing listservs such as Marketo or MailChimp, and event registration websites such as EventBrite or Cvent
• Excellent communications skills: written, editorial, oral
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment

Equivalent education and experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as a license, certification, or registration.
