Salary- 19.50-21.50 per hour

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide on-site supervision and direction for a crew of natural resource technicians in completing assigned task
  • Assist in habitat restoration, forestry, and research projects
  • Coordination with the SRSC Restoration Director, SRSC Field Operations Manager, and other SRSC staff as assigned.
  • Perform assigned tasks such as, but not limited to, site preparation, power tool operation, trees and shrub planting and maintenance, fish collection, environmental protection installation, topographic survey, and carpentry. Tasks involve physical labor, including hauling, lifting, and hiking.
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of equipment including, but not limited to nets, boats, heavy equipment, machinery, trailers, vehicles, and other equipment used in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Record, compile and maintain field records and notes including logbooks, data sheets and electronic data.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and monthly vehicle mileage logs.
  • Assist in the collection of biological, chemical and physical habitat samples and/or data.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the SRSC Restoration Director and/or the SRSC Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED.  Education in natural resources-related field is strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Experience:  Minimum one-year experience as a natural resources technician or similar position required. Experience with supervision of field crews highly preferred. Knowledge of field techniques, boat handling and operation and use of field equipment preferred. Knowledge of field conditions, local terrain, safety measures and use of computers are highly desirable.

Skills and abilities: Oral and written communication skills; sensitivity to Native American culture, customs, and traditions; possession of valid Washington driver’s license and must be insurable; willingness and ability to work in harsh environment under various weather conditions; willingness and ability to carry and/or lift weights of 40 lbs. or more; ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with the Drug Free Workplace Act.
