Salary- $50,256.00 – $67,560.00 Annually

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as lead data analyst for all Urban and Community Forestry Program GIS data withinthe broader Forest Resiliency data management system.
  • Collects and stewards all Urban Forestry relevant ecological, social, cultural, and operationaldata sets within the Forest Resiliency data management system provided in multiple formatsincluding tabular, spatial, feature services and other repositories, and field collected data.
  • Maintains storage and organization of all data created end products including but not limitedto maps, data syntheses, and tree inventories for reference.
  • Tracks statewide urban forestry data including coordination internally and with local governments to collect, develop, and maintain updated urban forestry data sets for municipalities including statewide urban canopy analysis and tree inventory as required by House Bill 1216.
  • Conduct research and analyze the needs and opportunities related tour ban forestry data in Washington by assessing tree canopy cover and urban forestry inventory data, while leading project teams to utilize existing recent tree canopy study andinventory data when available.
  • Make recommendations on when to add additional canopyanalysis and inventories in regions where adequate data is outdated or lacking.
  • Uploads Urban Forestry forest health projects into DNR’s Forest Health Tracker, integrating spatial and project information with financial datasets.
  • In collaboration and support with program staff and local governments, identify spatial priorities for implementation of urban forestry programs determined through the use andreview of analyses and tools including canopy analysis and inventory, environmental health disparities mapping tools identifying highly impacted communities, salmon and orca recoverydata, DNR forest health strategic plans, and other data as needed.
  • Develops map and communication products for UCF program including static maps (PDF,image, etc.), ArcGIS StoryMaps, web applications, and others as requested.
  • Provides technical advice, assistance, and analysis of Urban Forestry data.
  • Supports Forest Resiliency Division GIS and data analytical needs.
