Salary- $54,108.00 – $70,956.00 Annually
What you will do:
- Review and analyze technical documents such as remedial investigation / feasibility studies, sediment sampling and analysis plans, engineering design reports and cleanup action plans.
- Evaluate chemical and biological data resulting from sediment sampling.
- Serve as the Ecology representative during negotiations with other governmental agencies, liable parties, tribes and consultants.
- Negotiate, draft and review Agreed Orders, Consent Decrees and other legal documents.
- Understand and apply the principles of environmental chemistry, human toxicology and ecological toxicology to evaluate the actions required at contaminated sites.
Required Qualifications:
The goal class for this position is an Environmental Specialist 4 (ES4). We will consider applicants who meet the requirements for the ES4 or the ES3, or ES2 levels. If the finalist meets the requirements at the ES2/ES3 level, then they will be hired as an ES2/ES3 and will be placed in a training program to become an ES4 within a specified period of time.
At the Environmental Specialist 2 level: Pay Range 45 ($3,535 – $4,627 – monthly) (In-Training)
A total of Five (5) years of experience and/or education as described below:
- Professional level Experience: in environmental analysis or control or environmental planning.
- Education: involving a major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field.
Experience may include but not be limited to a combination of the following:
- Investigating environmental complaints or violations.
- Field sampling activities or participating in contaminated site remediation activities.
- Implementing best management practices to protect environmental quality.
- Performing inspections or field investigations.
- Planning, developing, conducting data collection, data management, and analyzing the results.
- Providing technical assistance to the public and businesses on compliance with environmental regulations.
