Position Summary

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CIVE) in collaboration with the Center for Energy Water Sustainability (CEWS) at Colorado State University, is seeking a Research Associate-I to support hydrology and hydraulic research projects. CSU is a land-grant institution with a strong commitment to research and education that impact society and address global problems. This is a full-time position with health and retirement benefits at our main campus in Fort Collins, CO.

This is an entry to mid-level professional and technical position in a research support capacity. The candidate will be responsible for executing technical tasks for research projects, including but not to limited to, flood plain modeling.

Broad technical knowledge with capability to work with supervision to complete designated tasks is required. Candidate is required to execute specialized and complex assignments and will report to the director of the Environmental Engineering Program. The work typically includes varied duties requiring different processes and methods.

Required Job Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Environmental Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 3 years of working experience in innovative and sustainable engineering
  • Experience working on Department of Defense projects, specifically the US Air Force
  • Strong background in spatial data analytics
  • Proficient hydraulic/hydrology modeling using ArcGIS, GeoHECRAS, and PCSWMM
  • Professional land surveying experience
  • Experience in troubleshooting hydraulic modeling issues and solving modeling complexities
  • Experience in incorporating stormwater assets like culverts and dams into hydraulic models
