Salary- $58,270-$69,924

The conservation easement manager will be part of the 16-member Stewardship Team, which manages approximately 36,000 acres of conservation lands including natural areas, parks and open spaces, and private lands where the Land Trust holds legal agreements, including conservation easements. The primary purpose of the stewardship program is to maintain and enhance the conservation values of protected properties across the Land Trust’s region. Conservation lands are managed for multiple objectives, mainly focused ecological integrity, but also incorporating community values such as recreation, economic activity, and equitable access.

The conservation easement manager will be responsible for the management of 56 privately-owned properties protected with conservation easements, totaling approximately 8,400 acres. The properties are located throughout our service region (~250 river miles) from the coast to the Portland-Vancouver metro area to the eastern slopes of the Cascades, representing a diverse portfolio of natural areas, working forests, and farmlands. The conservation easement manager will lead easement monitoring and documentation, landowner relations, identification of easement violations, issue resolution, and for some easements with affirmative obligations, site habitat enhancement work. Fundamental to this work is ensuring compliance with national Land Trust Alliance standards and practices. The position will also provide support to the Land Protection team when developing and negotiating new conservation easement projects. The position will work in coordination with, and with the support of, other stewardship team members.

This position can be based in Vancouver, Washington, Astoria, Oregon or Hood River, Oregon.
