Salary- $42,420.00 – $55,524.00

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Prepares for field season including inventorying stock and equipment and managing the vehicle and maintenance.
  • Performs instrument calibration checks and maintenance on many operating temperature and pressure transducer data loggers. Installs data loggers at multiple monitoring locations.
  • Prepares field sampling materials including but not limited to: creation of LARs, bottle labels, chain of custody documents, downloading and formatting equipment data.
  • Summarizes and assesses data using standard statistical procedures and scientific analysis. Develops initial reports of findings and provides recommendations to higher level environmental staff.
  • Cleans, sanitizes, and restocks sampling vehicle weekly.
  • Organizes and formats monitoring data for uploading into various water databases.
  • Reviews sampling data for precision and accuracy following each sampling event.
  • Supports NRAS programs including groundwater quality, pesticide usage, and agricultural land use mapping.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

One year of experience as an Environmental Specialist I.

OR

A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in environmental, physical. or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning or other allied field AND one year of professional level experience in environmental analysis or control, or environmental planning.

Additional qualifying experience will substitute. year for year, for education.

Special Requirements: Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid driver’s license to conduct agency business.

In addition to the above, our ideal applicant will also possess:

  • Previous work and experience related to water quality, monitoring and sampling equipment, stream assessment, and field investigations.
  • Experience collecting environmental field data, specifically water samples and physical and chemical stream parameters.
  • A background and/or educational foundation relating to agricultural practices, pesticides, and pesticide usage.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access for data management and analysis.
  • Experience using ArcGIS products and applications.
  • Ability to conduct field investigations which require working outdoors, on uneven terrain, and around deep/fast moving water.
  • Detailed-oriented and meticulous in data quality control and assurance.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
