Field Placement
  • Schedule and perform four formal observations each for ten teacher candidates
  • Build strong relationships with teacher candidates, mentor teachers, and other school employees connected to the student teaching experience
  • Assess and address teacher candidates’ strengths and areas of growth as defined by the observation tool, Code of Conduct, and by the expectations of teacher candidates outlined in MiT program handbooks
  • Facilitate one formal meeting between the mentor teacher and teacher candidate, as a representative of the MiT program
  • Confer with and possibly meet with mentor teachers and/or teacher candidates as needed
  • Collect and submit completed paperwork to the MiT staff
  • Review lesson plans developed by teacher candidates and provide timely feedback to teacher candidate prior to formal observations
  • Support teacher candidates as they complete their Inquiry, Action, and Equity projects (Master’s Project)
  • Be familiar with the MiT Program Handbook and the MiT Student Teaching Handbook
  • Check in regularly with the Lead Faculty about progress and any areas of support that might be needed by teacher candidate
  • Be proactive about any areas of support that need to be addressed by the teacher candidates being supervised
  • Write final Spring Quarter evaluations for supervised teacher candidates, including the mentor teacher’s feedback, and post by designated due date
  • Schedule and meet with teacher candidates 1:1 for final evaluation meeting during Eval Week at Evergreen (June 6-9, 2022)
  • Act as a professional reference for teacher candidates as they apply for employment
  • Promote a positive image of MiT at Evergreen by serving as a liaison between Evergreen and the assigned school districts and maintaining open lines of communication with those various school representatives in order to provide assistance and support
