Salary- $62,748.00 – $84,396.00 Annually
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
- A Bachelor’s Degree involving major study in natural resources, biology, ecology, botany, environmental sciences, or a closely related field of study. (A Master’s degree in one of the above fields will substitute for one (1) year of the required experience)
- Three (3) years of professional employment in biology, wildlife biology, fisheries biology, and/or wetland biology/ecology.
- Completion of US Army Corps of Engineers approved wetland delineation training or ability to complete within six (6) months of employment.
- Completion of Washington State Department of Ecology wetland rating training or ability to complete within six
- (6) months of employment.
- Training on field indicators for hydric soils or ability to complete within six (6) months of employment.
- Working knowledge of current environmental laws, regulations, and policies; familiarity with forest ecology, wetlands, wildlife, and fisheries in the Pacific Northwest.
- Firm grasp of scientific methodologies to analyze and record existing environmental conditions through field studies.
- Exceptional relationship management skills: ability to create effective working relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to travel to and from work as well as visit various work sites as needed, safely and in a timely manner.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
- A valid driver’s license.
- Certification as a Professional Wetland Scientist from the Society of Wetland Scientists.
- Completion of the University of Washington Wetland Science & Management Certificate program, or similar program.
- Experience evaluating Endangered Species Act listed fish and wildlife species and habitats including developing and reviewing Section 7 consultation documents.
- Experience and ability using ArcMap GIS system.
- Experience using electrofishing equipment.
- A working knowledge of WSDOT agency policies, standards, and procedures.
- The ability to manage complex projects utilizing standardized project management methodology and strategies.
- The ability to read and analyze contract documents for coherence, completeness, constructability, and accuracy.
