Salary- $74,160.00 – $84,460.00 Annually

Some of the duties include:

  •  Manage and implement the E2SHB1382 program in Puget Sound.
    • Facilitate meetings of the MAP Team when streamlined permitting projects in the Puget Sound Basin invoke the MAP Team.         Align facilitation approach with the Recreation and Conservation Office’s (RCO) approach to meetings in other regions of the state
    • Work under tight timelines to ensure prompt and timely permitting review and discussion
    • Generate follow-up correspondence with entities and keep records of technical or planning input on projects.
    • Accept input from stakeholders, evaluate concerns, and recommend actions.
    • Serve as point of contact for project sponsors and MAP Team members in Puget Sound. Provide technical assistance as necessary.
    • Manage communications for Puget Sound component of the pilot program
    • Monitor pilot program success through project tracking and evaluation
  • Coordinate closely with the Habitat Pilot Program Coordinator (HPPC) at Department of Fish and Wildlife (DFW). Assist the HPPC with development of outreach strategies, promote the pilot program goals, and coordinate updates with partners.
  • In coordination with the RCO and DFW, participate in the MAP Team’s consideration of proposed pilot program projects
    • Serve as the PSP representative on the statewide MAP Team
  • Develop and maintain working partnerships with PSP programs, other state agencies, local governments, tribes, restoration partners, and other stakeholders and interested parties
  • Work closely with various department programs/divisions and with tribes, other state and federal agencies, counties, cities, restoration groups, and others to assist in habitat recovery project planning
  • Assist PSP Salmon Recovery Manager with implementation and adaptive management of the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery Plan
  • Assist PSP PSAR Manager with development of the PSAR 10-year business/strategic plan
  • Coordinate with the Federal Task Force and participate on the work group
  • Assists in the development of policies and priorities implementing Puget Sound recovery efforts and E2SHB 1382
  • Ownership (accountability and responsibility) for the lines of business. This will include the ability to prioritize work consistent with agency budgets, work plans, priorities, standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies and best practices, etc., and the ability to make important/critical decisions for which the position is responsible for.  This includes:
    • Responsibility for high quality and cost-effective operations on a daily and long-term basis

  • Responsible for expense and revenue budgets related to the lines of business.
  • Responsible for contract and grant management
  • Understands and models the use of agency fiscal policy and related state and federal policies

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, wildlife management, natural resource management, natural resource science, environmental science, or related field OR six years of experience in these fields (or combination of education and experience totaling six years)
  • Knowledge of fish and wildlife habitat and life history needs and requirements. Additional knowledge of impacts of construction projects on aquatic and riparian habitat and resources and measures to mitigate those impacts.
  • Experience effectively communicating to senior executives, agency staff, partners, and the public – orally and in writing
  • One year or more of experience in effective and inclusive meeting facilitation
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a diverse group of agencies, governments, and stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to advancing justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts

Preferred Experience

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Working knowledge of Puget Sound ecosystems, habitat restoration-related permitting processes, and salmonid ecology and biology
  • Experience in contract management
  • Two or more years of progressive experience in effective and inclusive meeting facilitation, including conflict resolution
