Salary- $56,856.00 – $76,416.00 Annually

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: coordinating the development of new and/or ongoing updates to existing pre- season, interagency, exclusive use agreements and casual hire letters for fire suppression. Regularly communicates and coordinates with the private contracting sector, Region and Division personnel on the development of new and/or updates to Preseason Agreements for potential support on incidents. Communicates with vendors to ensure they have the required insurance coverage identified in the DNR Preseason Agreement template. Coordinates collection, verification and distribution of insurance requirements.

Acts as the DNR CC representative on DNR, interagency contract committees and other agreement committees as needed. The incumbent should have knowledge of and experience in wildland firefighting practices, DNR and national dispatch processes and procedures, the IROC dispatch program, types of firefighting resources and terminology utilized for wildland fire suppression purposes; including logistical support needs, communications protocols and safety practices.

The DNR Coordination Center (DNR CC) hosts Type 2 and Type 3 Northwest Incident Management Teams (NW IMT). In cooperation with DNR CC team members, ensures the NW IMT’s are accurately rostered in IROC and NW IMT members are mobilized in a timely manner, typically within one hour. Coordinates with the Fire Suppression Program Manager and Wildfire Response Coordinator to dispatch additional firefighting and logistical support resources. Coordinates with DNR CC team members to ensure DNR and Washington Fire Service resources dispatched out of state are tracked in a database which is maintained on a daily basis and the out of state resource orders are electronically saved and filed according to current DNR CC procedures.

Annually coordinates with NW IMT’s and DNR CC team members to support the NW Geoboard and Type 1 and Type 2 IMT’s in the member selection process. Annually updates the State Mobilization Guide. Assists in the development of and updates to agency policies, procedures, guidelines as directed.

Provides accurate dispatch statistics to DNR personnel for review and dissemination, as needed.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Experience in an emergency response role using the Incident Command System (ICS), leading or working in an emergency response group or module using ICS, examples include, but not limited to, working in an initial attack, agency or expanded dispatch office, being a member of an incident management team (IMT), or having a wildland fire single resource boss qualification or higher.
  • FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700 courses.
  • Experience successfully developing and updating contracts and agreements.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including developing, fostering and maintaining respectful and professional working relationships.
  • Must be adept at prioritizing, multi-tasking, and making decisions in a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment while maintaining a professional, respectful demeanor in person and during phone conversations. Must maintain a professional composure and demeanor even when the work environment is not fast- paced.
  • Strong professional writing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience using independent judgment to resolve problems.

  • Has completed FEMA ICS 300, 400, 800.
