Salary- $46,644.00 – $62,748.00 Annually

Responsibilities:
These positions reports to the Kulshan and Salish Fire Unit Manager respectively, and works under the guidance of state regulations, agency policies and procedures, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and agency strategic plans. Facilitates the management, coordination, planning and training for the Kulshan or Salish Suppression Module within Whatcom and most of Skagit Counties NW Region. These positions supervises a Wildland Fire Operations Technician 2 (Module Foreman) and four Wildland Fire Operations Technician 1s (FFT1s). These positions are responsible to ensure Module staff are proficient in suppression operations, as well as administrative duties required by the Agency. These positions will occasionally require backfill of duties behind other WFOT3s.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Wildland fire suppression experience
  • Certified as a NWCG Single Resource Boss-Crew Boss
  • Proven past experience in agreement and contract negotiations

  • Must pass work capacity test annually at the arduous level required by current red card qualifications.
  • Must be able to traverse uneven terrain in all weather conditions and alone in isolated unimproved natural areas within the unit. Work is performed in the office setting (30%) of the time, and unimproved natural areas of the state (70%).
  • Requires travel (50%) to the field for project work, fires, or supervision, attend meetings or various trainings. Frequent overnight travel is required for trainings, meetings, and fire assignments.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.
