Salary- $74,604.00 – $100,308.00 Annually

Responsibilities:
You will build complex forest operations models to help the Board of Natural Resources set and implement sustainable harvest levels for forest trust lands. You will work with experts in multiple fields including operations, forest growth and yield, wildlife biology, GIS, and policy to develop models that address a wide range of goals. You will summarize projected activities and forest conditions based on model results. You will present your work to managers and stakeholders and update models to incorporate their feedback.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Master of Science degree in Natural Resources Sciences, or closely related field.
    OR: A bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Sciences or closely related field, AND three years forest operations model work experience.
  • Three or more years of experience performing statistical analyses of forest inventory, growth and yield, or other operational forestry data, and preparing results summaries for managers or operational staff.
  • Demonstrated experience using Remsoft Woodstock Optimization System to develop harvest plans.
  • Proficient in programing languages R, SQL, Python or other computer language.
  • Understanding of scientific method and expertise in forest economics, mensuration, biometrics and growth forecasting.
  • Requires travel about 5-10 % of the time for field visits and to attend meetings.

  • Knowledge agency policies, and state and federal laws that affect forest management.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS.
