Develops, coordinates and implements behavioral health (Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health) community grant programs to enhance our Mason County Behavioral Health System of Care. These include Mason County Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion, Behavioral Health Navigator Program, Mason County Jail MAT and re-entry program, Behavioral Health Recovery & Support Transportation program, and Treatment Sales Tax programs, Works closely with county and community leadership and agencies such as Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Shelton Police Department, behavioral health treatment providers, emergency housing providers, Mason County Jail, Mason County Courts and other social service providers.

Examples of Skills & Duties

Provide system coordination and professional services continuing development of the Mason County Behavioral Health network with county and community agencies. Connects individuals experiencing behavioral health issues to resources. Assists and collaborates with agencies, providers, and other stakeholders through regular grant required meetings, committees, workgroups, and consultations to maintain good relations and achieve optimum outcomes for services. Collaborates to develop, implement and ensure ongoing utilization of Research/Evidence Based Practices (EBPs). Provides linkages, coordination of care and when appropriate memorandums of understanding with allied systems services and other community partners to enhance the Mason County Behavioral System of Care. Establish and maintain rapport with the population served. Provide information, consultation, and referral. Facilitate referral services for high-need individuals across all involved systems of care. Promote best practices in treatment approaches, support systems, and interventions. Meet with and interview contacts, families, and other care providers to assess needs and eligibility of services. Advocate needs of contacts within and outside system. Provide client-level and system-wide troubleshooting and advocacy. Facilitate bridging gaps between police and/or emergency medical contacts and social service providers. Submits required budges and reports and attends required training and meetings per funding requirements for each grant. Work closely with community providers to ensure compliance with state and federal guidance. Coordinate and evaluates services, to ensure consistency with departmental and community objectives. Works with our public health team. Proficient in use of MS software, especially Excel. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, establish and maintain effective working relationships with community partnering agencies, program participants, other employees, County officials, and the public. Educating and encouraging population based prevention and health promotion policy, systems and environment changes. Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in health education, social services, or related degree preferred.Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) preferred. Administrative experience within a social service or a closely related environment preferred.Current Washington State Driver’s License, proof of insurance, and satisfactory drivers record.Community Health Specialist I – Entry-level position within Community Health. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Community Health Specialist II – Senior level position based on level of experience and the ability to work independently. Bachelor’s Degree –is preferred, and three or more years of public health experience in one or more programs. A Bachelor’s Degree may be substituted for four additional (7 years in total) years of experience. Community Health Specialist III – Senior level position based on level of experience and the ability to work independently. Master’s Degree preferred and has three or more years of public health experience in one or more programs. A Master’s Degree may be substituted for two additional (9 years in total) years of experience.
