Salary- $24/hr
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with community member and staff to develop and implement conservation plans and review processes within NCLC conservation initiative areas using the Green Infrastructure methodologies as a framework.
- Design new conservation projects by determining the appropriate tool for achieving the project, and ensuring projects are in line with NCLC’s strategic plan and Standards and Practices.
- Provide project oversight for acquisitions and conservation easements including due diligence, overseeing of contracted work and facilitation of these activities for others. Items include drafting Purchase and Sales Agreements, title research, ensuring adherence to Standard and Practices, reviewing appraisals, presenting to committee and board, etc.
- Demonstrate scientific accuracy of all conservation planning documents, concepts and proposals.
- Develop proposals, budgets, grant funding applications, position papers and reports.
- Represent NCLC at appropriate meetings and forums.
- GIS administration including maintaining files, databases, locating new data sources and assisting all departments in the creation of maps.
- Co-Lead on grant writing for the conservation program. Work with the Stewardship Program Manager and Associate Director to identify grant opportunities, work with grantors, and develop grant applications.
- Track grants and ensure NCLC is meeting its reporting requirements and works with agencies and accountant to close out grants.
- Work closely with private and public agencies to implement NCLC’s conservation and stewardship goals.
- Staff the Lands Committee and cultivate inclusivity of diverse viewpoints in committee decision making.
Qualifications
- Education in public policy and planning, natural resource management, ecology, or a related field.
- Experience working or volunteering with a land conservation organization.
- Experience with collaborative project leadership.
- Strong background and experience in conservation easement and land purchase processes including legal requirements.
- Experience in developing and writing grants, budgets, and demonstrated success in receiving public and private funding.
- GIS mapping and analysis.
- Experience with conservation planning.
