Collaborate with the Investigator in the design of new concepts, approaches and programs for computational design of protein nanomaterials. This includes performing various specialized scientific investigative procedures in computational protein design in support of assigned research projects with minimal input from Investigator.
Directs the activities of technical support staff in the Baker lab and at the Institute for Protein Design in collaboration with other research staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students to select and maintain relevant protein research equipment to insure the lab meets required current and future needs. Managing complex multi-task projects directed at the design, production and testing of protein nanomaterials (with undefined time lines and uncertain outcomes requiring analysis from multiple perspectives). This includes the testing and review of new Rosetta design algorithms to ascertain if they effectively address needs. Use expert knowledge and judgment to develop new methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. This includes training other laboratory research staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students in use of Rosetta software and protein design computing infrastructure, as well as wet lab equipment for protein production and biochemical characterization. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Additional requirements: Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements. DESIRED REQUIRMENTS • Knowledge of biophysical methods for protein purification and biophysical characterization using AKTA, HPLC, SEC-MALS, CD, biolayer interferometry, SAXS, and others.
