This event is the culmination of a vision that began in the Fall of 2020 during some of the hardest days of the Pandemic. We felt it in our collective and we saw it in our community. People were hurting and struggling to adapt to the changes brought about by COVID-19. We wanted to inspire people to take action and we also wanted to acknowledge the grief that people were experiencing, especially given the increasing calls for a “Return to Normal”. 

Therefore, we decided to create a political education series and a cultural strategy project that would bring together pods of organizers, activists, and artists from across the country to, “Resist a Return to Normal” by deepening their relationships and diversifying their strategies. 

This 3-part project is made up of The Resist Manifesto, The ReKindle Course Series, and the Creative Wildfire Call to Create. The project is directed by Movement Generation, The Climate Justice Alliance, and the New Economy Coalition with generous funding support from the Womens Donor Network, The California Endowment, and the 11th Hour Project.
