The Department of Biology is a diverse, dynamic, and growing academic unit, with a very collegial staff . We are one of the largest academic departments on campus, and we support some 80 graduate students, 65 faculty members, 40 postdoctoral scholars, 80 classified and professional staff, and 100 hourly and student hourly employees. The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Technologist in the Rasmussen Lab.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Working under limited supervision, this position is responsible for working effectively as a member of a team under technical guidance of seasoned staff; establishing productive relationships with co-workers, customers and others to accomplish team objectives. This position may guide the work of co-workers, students, research aides/assistants, technicians or other support staff as necessary to achieve specific assignments. This position is responsible for contributing data to reports and publications; networks primarily within own technical peer group.

More specifically, the Research Technologist will perform general lab tasks, including creating new genetic stocks and performing genetic and image analyses. The Research Technologist will aid in archival and dissemination of biological resources.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Two years experience as a Laboratory Technician II, or equivalent; OR a Bachelors Degree in an appropriate field of science or technology.
• Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
