What you will do:

As a GIS Specialist, you will utilize current GIS tools to assist Oregon State Parks in collecting, correcting and improving the data sets available in support of the archeology and heritage programs. You will provide customers with current data, reduce duplication of field work efforts and ensure the agency is targeting resources to ensure best practices in the preservation of history and stories of all cultures that have existed in Oregon.

Minimum Qualifications:

(a) Three (3) years of information systems experience with GIS.
OR
(b) An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or a related field; AND One (1) year of information systems experience with GIS.

OR

(c) A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

What we are looking for (Desired Attributes):

  • At least one (1) year of GIS experience.

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations and products with technical programs/solutions.

  • Experience with the safe use of tools, material and equipment associated with field surveys and mapping.

  • Working knowledge of geospatial tools and data.

  • A solid understanding of field survey and locating activities and tools.

  • Experience in promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
