Assistantship Description

An assistantship (Ph.D.) for an exceptional student is available at the Dwivedi Forest Sustainability Lab located at the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. The incoming student will focus on the impacts of COVID-19 on the operational readiness of wood-consuming mills in the Southern United States and the adaptation strategies adopted by them to mitigate the risks posed by COVID-19. Additionally, the incoming student would ascertain the response of forestry companies for providing relief to local communities under their Corporate Social Responsibility across the Southern United States. The graduate student will publish findings in refereed journals and complete their dissertation in three years from the start date (fall of 2022).

Qualifications

Candidates with related backgrounds (e.g., forestry, agriculture, tourism, sociology, human dimensions, business, and so on), work experience, or research interests (qualitative/quantitative techniques) are encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed on a First Come First Serve basis.

Stipend and Benefits

This position will offer $23,560/year (for three years) as an assistantship. In addition to your stipend, you will receive a full-tuition waiver; however, you will be expected to pay a matriculation fee of $25 and mandated student and activity fees of $1,145, for a total of $1,170 per semester. This charge includes services of the University Health Center and Ramsey Student Center for Physical Activities as well as transportation, athletic, institutional, green, technology, and activity fees.
