The NREL is a research and teaching unit at Colorado State University with a mission “to ensure the sustainability of the Earth’s ecosystems through the generation and application of new knowledge.” The department’s interdisciplinary, ecosystem research promotes collaborations among disciplines and across fields of expertise at CSU and throughout the world. As a soft-money research unit, this role is critical to ensure adequate funding to sustain its vital role in the research community both locally and across the globe.
This position entails statistical analyses using Bayesian methods and Frequentist statistics to conduct model-based assessments of biogeochemical processes.
Required Job Qualifications
1. Master’s Degree in Statistics
2. Experience using greenhouse gas emission models and/or ecosystem models
Preferred Job Qualifications
1. Experience with R
2. Experience with Bayesian statistical methods
3. Experience with Frequentist statistical methods
4. Experience with parallel computing systems
5. Experience with SQL and data management

- Statistical and Ecosystem/Greenhouse Gas Emission Modeling
- Conduct Bayesian and Frequentists statistical analyses to support greenhouse gas emission and related biogeochemical modeling, as well as apply the models in applications.
- Data Management
- Manage input and output datasets for application of the greenhouse gas emission and ecosystem modeling.
- Report and Manuscript Preparation
- Assist with preparing tables, graphs, text and related materials for reports and manuscripts.
