The Distance Learning Educator position is designed to engage students in our mission through virtual program delivery to both classroom and individual audiences. Distance Learning Educators will be based at our National Park campuses. Applicants will indicate their campus preferences in their application. 

Distance Learning Educators will need to adapt to a changing program delivery landscape (i.e., hybrid classrooms) as we build our offerings and understand program success. 

Primary Duties

Program Delivery & Implementation (75%)

  • Teach programs using a variety of virtual platforms, including Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • Deliver “live” synchronous programming using existing curriculum
  • Meet standards of quality program delivery and professionalism
  • Collaborate with distance learning team members (sales/marketing, operations) across all NatureBridge locations to develop and refine programming
  • Catalog curriculum digitally and support version control
  • Train and support others in remote program delivery methods and techniques
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers/administrators to plan and implement programming
  • Provide documentation, feedback and reflect upon program delivery to support continuous improvement
  • Adhere to all risk management protocol and guidance regarding virtual program delivery and managing risk appropriately for oneself and participants, including new and emerging protocols for COVID-19

Organizational Support (15%)

  • Provide on-campus support duties such as inventorying/maintaining supplies, opening and routing mail and reporting risk management concerns
  • Support communications and marketing by contributing to blogs or other social media efforts or online events, including video production work, etc.
  • Participate in organizational-wide efforts as appropriate, such as donor engagement events, welcoming guests and board members during sessions
  • Other duties as assigned 

Support Strategic Explorations for Future Distance Learning Programs (10%)

  • Collaborate with strategic team on efforts to advance Distance Learning at NatureBridge
  • Support developing and piloting new curriculum adhering to the NatureBridge Theory of Change

Qualifications:

  • Ability to create a fun, relevant, student-centered learning experience in a virtual classroom
  • Minimum one year of relevant formal or informal teaching experience, including environmental education, science education, or outdoor education
  • Bachelor’s degree/equivalent experience.
  • Awareness of and continual commitment to engage in professional development opportunities to refine distance learning craft and share those learnings with others
  • Possess the social and emotional skills necessary to build rapport and positive relationships 
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion within your teaching and our community, and willingness to explore these topics professionally and personally.
  • Experience in cultivating an inclusive learning environment by delivering culturally relevant content and presenting multiple and balanced perspectives that connect NatureBridge curriculum to students’ communities
  • Flexible, innovative and dedicated to continuous improvement and reflection 
  • Comfort with and excitement to engage with a variety of technologies and virtual platforms 
  • Familiarity with NGSS and other related standards
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team

Compensation

Starting pay is $14/hr, with an average of 32 hrs a week. Educators are eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance, paid training, paid vacation and sick time. Shared housing is provided as a benefit of employment.
