Duties

Our Recruiting Program Specialist, 

Coordinates Program Recruitment and Hiring. Tasks include:

  • Developing, revising, and coordinating the recruiting and hiring processes for commissioned officers under the administrative direction of the Career Development Sergeant.
  • Researching and developing recruitment strategies to generate interest and increase the officer candidate pool.
  • Attending job fairs (in-person or virtual) and coordinating with enforcement staff to attend events for job seekers; coordinating with in-state and out-of-state colleges, military bases, the Criminal Justice Training Commission, recruitment centers, and others; ensures career opportunities are marketed to diverse candidate groups using social media, the WDFW public web page, bulletin boards at career centers, and through any other approved information distribution methodologies.  

Manages Program Communications. Tasks include:

  • Analyzing subscriber data to determine popular content, and developing social media strategies based on subscriber data, user feedback, program goals and objectives, and politically sensitive issues; recommending strategies and content to WDFW Law Enforcement Command staff.
  • Collaborating with WDFW web designers to design and develop new content for the WDFW Police Jobs website, and ensuring current content is accurate and updated consistently to generate interest.
  • Designing and developing site content for the WDFW Law Enforcement public website.

Manages Program Materials. Tasks include:

  • Using graphic design software (e.g., PowerPoint, and Adobe) to create recruitment ads, business cards, surveys, brochures, forms, presentations, signage, and other materials used in recruitment, hiring, and social media efforts.
  • Researching, developing, and designing surveys to generate data from WDFW Enforcement staff; utilizing Survey Monkey and SharePoint to collect and analyze data and making recommendations to WDFW Enforcement Command Staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Setting, including hazards:    
    • Work is typically performed in an office setting within the headquarters of the Law Enforcement Program.
    • Extensive use of the computer and frequent sitting.
  • Schedule:   
    • Standard business hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday, but may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings, depending on workload.
  • Travel Requirements: 
    • Occasional travel throughout the State and country to attend training, meetings, job fairs, and conferences.
  • Tools and Equipment: 
    • Computer hardware and software; general office equipment; cell phone.
  • Customer Interactions:
    • Works closely with law enforcement applicants, other law enforcement entities, the public (via social media), vendors and media.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in business or public administration, project management, or related field.

AND

  • Three (3) years of experience that includes organizational planning, policy analysis, and/or development/interpretation of hiring rules/regulations/laws.

Experience:

  • As a public speaker/presenter.
  • Analyzing administrative processes and workflows to develop efficiencies.
  • Working with graphic design software such as, SharePoint web design and administration, Microsoft applications to include but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS, Adobe Professional, and other software associated with office publications. 

Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Ability to:

  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to complete projects on tight deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality in working with sensitive information.
  • Work successfully as part of a diverse work team. 

    AND

  • Must be willing to be fingerprinted and pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a background and criminal history check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to manage projects effectively and deliver desired results
  • Experience with Microsoft Project software.
  • Skilled in survey development, distribution, and analysis.
  • Experience in analyzing work process, procedures, and policies.
  • Experience working in a law enforcement or correctional setting.
