POSITION PURPOSE: Citizens’ Climate Education (CCE) works to build a national, bipartisan coalition supporting a revenue neutral carbon dividend approach to address climate change. This coalition coordinates with CCE’s sister 501(c)(4) organization, Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL), when volunteers engage in advocacy for specific legislation. This position will work within CCE to initiate and implement outreach to young adult conservatives and Republicans on carbon pricing and carbon dividends as a mechanism to mitigate climate change.  

POSITION REPORTS TO: CCE’s Conservative Outreach Coordinator

SCHEDULE/TIME COMMITMENT: April 5, 2021 through December 18, 2021 (or alternate to be set) at roughly 10 hours per week. Includes check-in calls with CCE’s Conservative Outreach Coordinator twice per month & web-based Fellows team calls twice per month. Fellows will work remotely. Daily/weekly schedules are flexible. 

RESPONSIBILITIES STRUCTURED AROUND THE FOLLOWING GOALS: 

  • Build a network of conservative and Republican young adults who are interested in climate policy that you engage on a regular basis.
  • Train young conservatives and Republicans to voice a constructive message for putting a price on carbon emissions. Actions may include:
    • speaking at events & hosting meetings & events to discuss climate policy – in person or virtual
    • publish media supporting carbon pricing: social media, local & regional papers, podcasts
    • participating in organizations and events to network with conservatives
  • Develop, propose, test & implement outreach methods to young adult conservatives & Republicans.
  • Provide occasional administrative support including email, calls, research and data entry.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated networking & communication skills especially related to conservative outreach
  • An understanding of carbon pricing as a mechanism for climate mitigation
  • Ability to work collaboratively, to meet deadlines, and to self direct your actions
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and U.S. citizens
  • Supply your own computer with internet access and transportation for outreach events

COMPENSATION:  The successful applicant will receive a stipend of $3,520 over the 44-week Fellowship (stipend to be adjusted according to start/end date). 

We do not provide Workers Compensation Insurance for fellows, interns or volunteers.
