Plans, organizes, coordinates and supervises fleet maintenance and oversees central stores, fueling, radio tower operations. Responsible for preparing fleet specifications, procuring and surplusing equipment and vehicles. Assists with developing and tracking budgets, and accounting for assets and inventory.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Coordinates, schedules and supervises all vehicle and equipment servicing, repair and upkeep activities to assure that work is performed efficiently and according to appropriate guidelines, procedures and regulations.
Prioritizes and coordinates work to ensure timely completion of work projects. Maintains accurate records and documentation relating to repairs of equipment and vehicle maintenance, schedules, usage and repairs.

Inspects work in progress and upon completion to assure quality of work and standards of safety are being met

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities, required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

High school diploma or G.E.D.

Specialized training in vehicle and heavy equipment mechanical repair and maintenance.

Five years progressively responsible experience in vehicle and/or heavy equipment mechanical maintenance, two of which are at a lead or supervisory level.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• A valid Washington State Driver’s License – CDL Class A (within 6 months)

• Class A/B UST Certification

Health Insurance – Regular full-time employees and their qualifying dependents are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Some regular part-time employees may receive the same coverage. Employees may partially contribute premiums depending upon the type of coverage selected.

Paid Leave – Sick leave, holidays, and vacation are provided in accordance with the County policy or union contracts. Vacation accrual rates increase at regular intervals based on length of service with the County.

Retirement Plan – All regular Mason County employees are enrolled in the Washington State Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS, PSERS or LEOFF). The County and employees contribute jointly to the plans.
