The position is within the U.S. Department of Energy-funded Bioenergy Research Center (BRC), the Center for Advanced Bioenergy and Bioproducts Innovation (CABBI). The mission of CABBI is to develop the scientific and technological basis for efficient and productive bioenergy crops, whose biomass can be converted into valuable bioproducts in an economically and ecologically sustainable fashion.

The laboratory technician will work with Dr. Wendy Yang to design, construct, and operate a stable isotope labeling facility for whole plant 13C- and 15N-labeling of highly productive bioenergy grasses in the greenhouse and field settings. Career development for the laboratory technician will be supported through mentorship by Dr. Yang, participation in lab meetings and project meetings, and professional development opportunities at UIUC, including free coursework as non-degree students as permitted by work schedules.
