Position Overview

This internship is meant to provide the intern with a high-level view of community powered conservation while supporting the advancement of an inclusive environment within one of the world’s largest marine mammal stranding response programs. The successful candidate will contribute meaningful support to the technology, volunteer engagement, and logistics of our Monterey Bay Operations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • An interest and passion for conservation.
  • Strong interest and ability to use computer-based programs and comfort learning new software and database programs.
  • A desire to work as part of a team.
  • A desire to build skills in outreach and communication.
  • Proficiency in a language other than English preferred.
  • Experience working with volunteers and diverse communities.

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position and move in an office environment for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment 90% of the time.
  • Ability to drive/operate a vehicle. Public transportation between housing accommodations and site is limited.
