Cascadia Conservation District is seeking a highly motivated and collaboratively minded individual to join the District as a Resource Specialist II. This full-time position will primarily serve as the watershed coordinator for the Entiat Watershed Action Team and will provide project and program support to Cascadia CD’s natural resource programs focusing on aquatic habitat, forestry and water resources. Cascadia CD is located in Chelan County, Washington with physical office space located in the city of Wenatchee. This position is primarily grant funded and relies on successful future grant applications to continue its funding. This position reports directly to Cascadia CD’s Executive Director.

Cascadia CD consists of a small team of dedicated staff focused on providing technical assistance, cost share and building programs that serve our community and the natural resources in Chelan County. Cascadia CD is a non-regulatory political sub-division of Washington State and is governed by a 5- member volunteer Board of Supervisors.

Duties

Typical Work:
The Resource Specialist II will serve as the watershed coordinator for the Entiat Watershed Action Team and the associated sub-committees. This position works with Entiat watershed stakeholders (landowners, and local/state/federal organizations) to encourage stakeholder engagement, tackle emerging water resource and land management issues, and update existing watershed management plans as needed. This position will work closely with these stakeholders to move forward resource management in the watershed. In addition to the watershed coordinator work, this position will manage several large scale federal and state grants, working with staff to ensure project deliverables will be met and providing assistance with outreach, technical assistance and other support as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
A qualified candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree involving a major in environmental or physical science, one of the natural sciences, planning or other closely related field and two years of professional level experience. An Associate’s Degree in environmental or physical science or technology or other closely related field may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree if the applicant has three years or more of applicable experience.
  • Very strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating stakeholder groups and working one-on-one with landowners Demonstrated the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Capability of working with diverse individuals and small groups.
  • Able to work in remote and rugged locations under a variety of weather conditions, traverse difficult upland and instream terrain, and carry field equipment necessary to complete required job tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel are essential).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:
A well qualified candidate will have:

  • Competency with GIS software
  • Experience working with conservation districts
  • Experience with multi-resource workplans and stakeholder processes
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish
