Do you have a fisheries or natural resources background and want to help shape fish policy in Oregon? The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is searching for someone who is detail-oriented and skilled at interpreting complex fisheries policy and can work collaboratively with agency partners.

Serve as co-lead for ODFW regarding ESA Recovery Planning, including the following functions: (1) key coordination role with the Governor’s Natural Resource Office and (2) key role coordinating collaborative work with NOAA Fisheries, the States of Washington and Idaho, Tribal co-managers, other state and local agencies, and Stakeholder Teams. Represent ODFW and Oregon on intra- and interagency on policy and technical teams related to habitat protection and restoration. Serve as Fish Division’s lead on climate change issues. Represent ODFW and Oregon on intra- and interagency teams addressing predator management in relationship to marine mammals and birds. Function as a key member of the Fish Leadership Team; critically evaluate alternative interpretations of scientific data, assess implications of alternative policies, resolve internal agency interpretations of science and policy, and effectively recommend Agency position and policy strategies in all areas of personal and professional proficiency.

Qualifications: Requires seven years’ biological experience with at least five years’ experience researching and analyzing data, conducting investigations, applying pertinent laws and regulations, or coordinating and monitoring project activities in a fish or wildlife program; and a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries/Wildlife Science or closely-related Bachelor’s degree or three additional years of biological experience. A Master’s/Doctorate degree will substitute for some experience.
