This position is assigned to the NOC, Division of Information Resources Management. The duty location is negotiable upon selection.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating input and development, management, and execution of the Geospatial Business Platform system and infrastructure for mission essential applications and geospatial projects for the BLM and other customers.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in geospatial technologies and other IT disciplines such as customer service, networking, policy development, enterprise architecture, and applications software; make recommendations on integration into the infrastructure.
  • Provides guidance for short and long range geospatial plans for the Bureau.
  • Develops and applies technical service delivery to effectively integrate bureau systems and mission essential applications into the Geospatial Business Platform.
  • Formulates strategies to improve the value and reliability of geospatial system services and technology infrastructure to support the Bureau’s business requirements to include national systems.
  • Directly supervises a staff of Geospatial System Engineers, Geospatial System Administrators, Geospatial Portal Administrators and highly technical contracted IT staff.

For GS-14: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: 1) Providing services as a project manager for geospatial technology projects, related to the design, development, acquisition, and delivery of geospatial software and services. 2) Applying geospatial systems operations and support activities related to technical options, processing procedures, geospatial analysis logic, geospatial computer languages, and the general principles of geospatial information management. 3) Applying judgement to develop new insights into Bureau-wide situations using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). 4) Supervising users and support personnel in maintaining and improving Geospatial Infrastructure. 5) Managing project planning and operations of project teams. 6)Applying project planning, project management and system design for user-oriented systems. 7) Communicating orally and written presenting information clearly and convincingly; explaining and justifying recommendations; provide guidance; responding to inquiries and interacting with high level officials.
