The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our South Puget Sound Region. The South Puget Sound Region is excited to announce an opening in the Region Operations Finance Unit for a Fiscal Analyst 2 – Fire Cost Analyst.  If you are customer service oriented, enjoy fiscal responsibility, and working in a high volume, fast paced, professional yet fun environment, this is a perfect position for you.  This position supports DNR in fulfilling its mission and goals through the fiscal recovery of region fire costs.  Region Operations Finance consists of 5 positions that support the finance needs of approximately 190 staff.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Region’s Fiscal Analyst 4, the Fire Cost Analyst provides fire cost recovery, analysis and other fiscal and administrative support to South Puget Sound Region.  This role interacts with Region Business and Wildfire Program Staff, Wildfire Division, other Agency personnel at the City, County, State & Federal level.   This position works under the guidance of State and Federal regulations, Office of Finance Management, DNR policies and procedures and cooperator agreements.

Required Qualifications: 

• Knowledge of and ability to explain the agency’s current fire, cost recovery and fiscal policies and procedures.
• High School diploma or GED equivalency; AND 15 credit hours of college level accounting AND 1 year experience, OR 3-4 years of fiscal and accounting experience, OR a combination of college level accounting credits and general clerical or fiscal experience.
• Extensive knowledge of accounting rules, regulations, policies, and laws and practices.
• Experience performing a variety of advanced and complex accounting and financial tasks.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet and advanced applications of financial management-related software programs.
• Experience in preparing financial reports and statements.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team on assigned tasks.
• Proven analytical and mathematical skills.
• Competent in data analysis.
• Ability to effectively convey ideas and information in writing using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.
• Competent in mathematical reasoning.
• Experience with recordkeeping.
• Competent in fiscal accountability.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work with inflexible and conflicting deadlines.
• Ability to work overtime during the summer months.

Our ideal candidate will also have the qualifications listed below:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, which includes at least 18 quarter or 12 semester hours of accounting, auditing, or budgeting. Professional experience may substitute for education, but not usually for the credit hours.
• Incident Command System- COST or INBA qualified (Incident Business Administrator)
