State Parks is governed by a board of seven volunteer citizens appointed by the Governor. Commission members serve staggered six-year terms, setting public policy and guiding the agency. This recruitment is for one full-time, non-permanent Senior Park Aide position at Conconully State Park located in Okanogan County, Washington.

The season dates for this position are March 1st (3/1) through November 15th  (11/15).

Duties

Under the supervision of the Park Ranger, this position is essential to Washington State Park’s mission of operating, enhancing, interpreting, and protecting our park’s recreational, cultural, historical, and natural sites.  This position assists with the mission and related tasks in the daily operations and routine maintenance of the park associated properties.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Leads Park Aides and volunteers.
  • Perform routine maintenance of park grounds, structure, utility system, vehicles, equipment, tools, trails, fences, restrooms, etc.
  • Daily cleaning of restrooms, trash collection, and litter pick up.
  • Perform removal of noxious weed control using hand tools and power tools.
  • Maintain park lawns using mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, and various other tools.
  • Clean and maintain all park equipment.
  • Perform daily campground registration tasks.
  • Collect, sort, and count park revenue.
  • Educate the public on park rules and regulations, local events, activities, and historical information.
  • Compile monthly equipment reports, fuel logs, and timesheets.
  • Develop and presents interpretive programs and develops displays and camp events.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFCATIONS:

  • Twelve (12) months of experience in building maintenance or grounds keeping, or performing semi-skilled/general carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work.

OR

  • Six (6) months cumulative experience as a Park Aide (or equivalent),

OR 

  • Twelve (12) months experience in a special employment program (Washington Conservation Corps) with a parks agency. A combination of experience (WCC and Park Aide) may be used provided candidate has at least three months experience as a Park Aide (or equivalent).

AND

  • A valid unrestricted driver’s license (other than corrective lenses).
  • At least 18 years old.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year experience with professional housekeeping or janitorial duties.
  • Experience working independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Providing customer service in a positive and professional manner.
