Rec ‘N The Streets (RNTS):   RNTS are mobile community center(s) that provide outside equitable recreation programming in open spaces (e.g., parks, housing developments, senior facility parking lots, and neighborhood blocks) that are located in disadvantaged areas. We co-create and implement programs and opportunities that are informed by community voice, health statistics and social distance spacing that provides interactive, educational and fun activities that promote health and wellbeing.

We build and leverage partnerships and support Black, Indigenous, Person of Color, and underserved communities to access opportunities and resources.  This role will be performed OUTDOORS WEDNESDAY through SUNDAY performing the job duties listed below.

Job Responsibilities

You as the RNTS Recreation leader will organize, plan, implement and lead recreation activities for community members and park goers based on community feedback and information.

You will engage with community using an equity focused lens to listen for understanding.

You will build partnerships with community-based organizations and/or volunteers.

You will conduct cleaning and sanitizing of equipment in compliance with COVID restrictions.

You will maintain social distancing requirements.

You will conduct community engagement and recruitment of participants from economically, culturally, and racially diverse communities.

You will plan conduct special events based on partnerships and community feedback.

You will maintain records of all standard activity, special events and program activities and utilize those records to make improvement in program offerings.

You will prepare promotional materials both print and on various social media platforms.

You will perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • One year experience in a community-based recreation program
  • The equivalent to an associate degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, or related field
(or a combination of education and/or training and/or ex­perience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class)

Licensing/Certification
Current State of Washington driver’s license or evidence of equivalent mobility.

 
Additional Information

Qualified candidates from this hiring process will be used to fill other vacancies in the REC LEADER title at any SPR location for up to one year.

This position is an Out of Class (OOC) opportunity for current City of Seattle employees or a benefited, term-limited temporary position for external applicants that will last up to 2 years (24 months) of full-time service.

Preference will be given to internal candidates who meet our minimum qualifications for the position.
